90 & 180 degree ceremony

Performance, Duration approx 2 hours
Netherlands 2010

The work is about a hope. To keep the hope, it requires balance and concentration.

Potatoes are considered as basic food in Holland. They are not luxury and special, but rather ordinary. In Japan, potatoes are sometime cynically used as a metaphor of something not important.

I created a sculptural tool to carefully cut two sides of potatoes with an angle of 90 degrees. I placed them one by one on top of each other during Performance Night. It was an attempt to create the tower as high as possible.
